Today, Jetstar Australia finally announced the launch of direct flights between Busselton and Melbourne. Flights between the east coast and Busselton have been in talks for around 2 years, with Jetstar and Busselton Airport confirming the new flights today.

These flights are scheduled to begin on the 25th March 2020 and will run 3 times weekly. The new service will operate on a Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. The inbound flight from Melbourne, JQ900, will arrive into Busselton at 9:05am. The return flight, JQ901, will depart Busselton at 9:40am and will be operated by Jetstar’s A320-200 aircraft. The aircraft feature an all economy cabin with a standard 3-3 configuration.

These new flights will see 1080 seats per week on this new service. The new service will be the first time Busselton has been linked to the east coat and will contribute $40 million to the WA economy over the next 3 years, while attracting 60,000 visitors to the South West region over those 3 years. The new direct flights will save tourists from flying into Perth and then driving 3 hours south to Busselton, with the flight giving tourists direct access to the South West. In order for these flights to go ahead, the West Australian government will put $3.265 million towards upgrading the terminal at Busselton Airport.
This new service will not only benefit Busselton, but the entire South West region, and will open up doors for additional services to other Australian cities or even into Asia in the future.
